Since you are already a diving instructor from another agency, SSI recognises that you don’t need to go through another full Instructor Training Course to learn how to become an SSI instructor. As such, the SSI Instructor Crossover course is a 3 day program that will teach you the SSI Philosophy for Dive Training, introduce you to some new skills and techniques, and enhance your existing instructor skill set, allowing you to conduct a range of SSI courses in addition to the programs you can already teach.

The Goodtime Instructor Crossover Course

Once you have registered for the SSI Instructor Crossover course you will gain access to the MySSI app and all the materials needed to complete your self-study before the course officially begins. Typically the course will be classroom based on the first day, focusing on the SSI Education Philosophy, Training System, and Business System. On the second day, you’ll be in the water learning and practicing the new skills that are specific to SSI Courses. There is also a final written exam to complete. 

On completion of your SSI Instructor Crossover course, you will have the option to gain valuable experience and practice by team-teaching a full SSI Open Water Course with one of our experienced instructors, free of charge.

Should you wish to gain even more valuable experience and really kick start your SSI teaching career, you can join our Instructor Internship. Our month-long internship allows you to team-teach real students alongside Goodtime’s most professional, experienced, and knowledgeable instructors. You’ll gain confidence in teaching a range of SSI courses, and as you will be the certifying instructor, you’ll also increase your certification count, enhance your CV, and increase your employment opportunities at the same time.

Generally, our SSI Instructor Crossover courses run to a set schedule of dates throughout the year, although we can sometimes be flexible depending on other bookings. There are some factors to be aware of before you sign up. To officially begin your SSI Instructor Crossover Course at Goodtime you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Hold an equivalent certification from a recognized training agency within the last two years.
  • Meet the minimum certification requirements for the certification level at which you are crossing over.
  • Have proof of CPR and First Aid training within 2 years.
  • Have proof of Oxygen First Aid training within 2 years.
  • Complete a medical questionnaire and submit a current diving medical certificate (dated within the last 12 months) signed by a physician. If you answer “no” to all the questions you can obtain your medical for diving on Koh Tao. However, if you have any pre-existing medical conditions we would recommend getting the certificate from a diving physician before you arrive.

    • If you are not currently active or your current qualification is not from a recognised training agency,  you may still do the crossover, but there will be additional training requirements.  Please contact us for further details.

    Course Costs
