If you are interested in becoming an SSI Diving Instructor, the first step is to email our Instructor Trainer info@goodtimethailand.com to discuss your current diving experience, diving qualifications, availability, ideal schedule and any other requirements.  Once you are registered for the course, we can give you access to all of the online learning materials on the MySSI App.  This gives you the opportunity to complete all of the digital learning self-study and review questions in your own time and at your own pace.  

There are some sections of study that must be completed before the course starts, but we recommend you spend as much time preparing as possible. The more preparation you do in advance, the easier the course will be.  You will feel more relaxed and will gain much more benefit from the other sections this way. So in addition to completing the digital learning, we would also recommend refreshing your knowledge of the Science of Diving course, and ensuring the skill demonstrations (including the rescue skills) you learnt during your Divemaster course are still of a high level.  You don’t need water or equipment to do this as you can review them by accessing the ‘Skills Review Scuba’ program in the MySSI app.  Pay particular attention to memorising the key points in the description, and you can even role-play the demonstrations on dry land.

Employment
Here at Goodtime Koh Tao we prefer to hire from within and we retain staff we have trained ourselves wherever possible. So you would be at the top of the list should we need to employ more instructors once you have passed your IE! We can never guarantee availability of work after your course but even if we are already fully staffed, we find that other dive centres are very willing to hire our Divemaster and Instructor course candidates because they can be confident of high quality when it comes to standards, proficiency and training.  We have great connections around Koh Tao and beyond, and are committed to helping you secure your dream job. So wherever you want to live and work, we can help you!

Specialty Instructor Rating
If you really want to stand out from the crowd and enhance your chances of getting a job while increasing the variety and enjoyment of your career, you should consider becoming a Specialty Instructor.  This 3 day course can be taken immediately after your IE and will qualify you to teach 5 specialty programmes including Deep Diving and Wreck Diving.  Not only will this increase your earning potential by encouraging divers to go beyond Open Water Diver and Advanced Adventurer courses, it will also enable you to train Divemasters, which is incredibly rewarding.
