We are excited to be one of Koh Tao’s only diving center’s to offer training on our BSAC (British Sub Aqua Club) Boat Handling course and Diver Coxswain Assessments. 

Most diving on Koh Tao is done from old converted fishing boats, but as we have custom built speed boats, we can offer so much more. 

This is a great qualification to have on your CV, whether you are a regular diver or dive professional.

These courses are designed to give students with little or no boat handling knowledge or experience, instruction in small boat handling. It covers techniques relevant to diving and related safety knowledge

As there is a maximum of three students per instructor, there’s lots of hands-on action with this course. You’ll feel the thrill of driving a boat at high speed, and face the challenge of conquering new skills and techniques. When you’re not driving yourself you’ll be practicing new skills as part of the boat crew.

The course certifies individuals to helm powerboats up to 10 meters in coastal waters and includes skills and techniques specific for dive boat operations worldwide, not just for diving on Koh Tao. The course is MCA (Maritime and Coastguard Agency) approved which is recognized internationally including Australia and is equivalent to RYA Power Boat level 2/3 

The course takes 2 days for the Boat Handling license and another 1.5 Days for Diver Coxswain Assessment. Students will complete a minimum of 5 hours helm time throughout the course, Along with various skills, emergency procedures and voyage planning. Maximum of 3 students per course.

No experience required for the Boat Handler course is required.

The course is offered all year round.
