Most diving on Koh Tao is done from old converted fishing boats, but as we have a custom-built speed boat, we can offer so much more.
This is a great qualification to have on your CV, whether you are a regular diver or dive professional or even a non-diver.
The BH course is designed to give students with little or no boat handling knowledge or experience, instruction in small boat handling. It covers techniques relevant to diving and related safety knowledge.
As there is a maximum of three students per instructor, there’s lots of hands-on action with this course. You’ll feel the thrill of driving a boat at high speed, and face the challenge of conquering new skills and techniques. When you’re not driving yourself, you’ll be practicing new skills as part of the boat crew.
The course certifies individuals to helm powerboats up to 10 meters in coastal waters and includes skills and techniques specific for dive boat operations worldwide. The course is MCA (Maritime and Coastguard Agency) approved which is recognized internationally including Australia and is equivalent to RYA Power Boat level 1.
The course takes 2 days for the Boat Handling license, with some classroom but mostly hands on, practicing various skills, emergency procedures and voyage planning.
We’re proud to be Koh Tao’s only dive center offering the BSAC Boat Handling Course, recognized worldwide and approved by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency. Designed for divers and non-divers alike, this hands-on training certifies you to helm powerboats up to 10 meters in coastal waters. I was at Goodtime for the last week of march 2026, as I know Lukas already from my time on Koh Phangan. First day he was busy, so I was diving with Edu, who was a nice guy guided me nice and slow as I like it. The next day´s I was diving with Lukas and it was as expected. He´s a really good instructor and guide, I really can reccomend him, his professionalism is absolutly great. We had some very nice cavern and wreck dives.
A very pleasant and child-friendly atmosphere. You can easily spend the whole day there. The beach is very good for Koh Tau.
I completed my Open Water Certification with Goodtime Adventures and had an amazing experience from start to finish. I especially want to thank Ana, who was incredibly patient, calm, and professional throughout the entire course. She took the time to guide me through each skill step by step, explaining everything clearly and thoroughly. Her supportive approach really reassured me and helped build my confidence in the water. At all times, I felt completely safe and well looked after, which made such a difference to my overall experience. I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor - highly recommend!
A fantastic dive center with excellent organization. Our group of five did the Basic Dive and were accompanied by two very friendly and competent instructors, Lydia and Ana.
An absolutely fantastic experience with Goodtime Adventures Scuba Diving. A super friendly team, professional service, and a relaxed atmosphere. You feel safe and well looked after at all times. I can highly recommend them. Ask for Lydia or Ana as instructors when you arrive, and with a bit of luck, you might even get Mike, who can accompany you as a photographer with high-end equipment and capture your dive in incredibly beautiful pictures—all in all, 5 stars!
The introduction to the diving course was excellent; my nervousness disappeared immediately. Lydia, as the diving instructor, is very competent. I had a lot of fun. Great job, and I would definitely do another dive at this diving school anytime.
