We appreciate there is a lot of choice out there, and as dive standards are internationally prescribed, you may be wondering if it even makes a difference which dive centre you train with. • Goodtime is the only Koh Tao diving centre that operates a range of diving vessels. We have two custom built speedboats, perfect for zipping more advanced divers to the best sites for fun dives and advanced courses. We also have a spacious & comfortable larger boat ideal for training and beginner dive experiences. Our operation will ensure you are highly trained and experienced for many types of diving to maximize your future prospects.
• We’re the only dive school in Thailand to offer a range of additional activities such as rock climbing, abseiling, cliff jumping & watersports, meaning you can try your hand at all these fun things at the same time as getting the most out of your diving on Koh Tao.
• We’re one of just a handful of dive schools in Thailand (and the only Koh Tao diving centre) that can also certify you in Powerboat Handling (seasonal only) and can train you to become an internationally recognised BSAC Diver Coxswain. This is a fantastic skill to pair with your new Divemaster Qualification, making you exceptionally employable around the world.

How It Works

There are several sections to the Divemaster program. You’ll take part in some academic training with one of our experienced pro level team members, but the bulk of your time will be spent in the water. You’ll assist on a variety of recreational level training programmes, and also take part in instructor lead workshops where you practice existing skills and learn new ones. As you progress through the course you will develop the knowledge and experience you need to organise and direct a variety of scuba diving activities. When you are not scheduled for training courses, you get to fun dive with your fellow trainees and shadow customer groups. This is a great way to familiarise yourself with more dive sites and marine life, and will also really help you develop your navigation and leadership skills.

The course can technically be completed in just a couple of weeks, but to get the most out of your training we would advise spending at least a month with us. To sign off as a Divemaster you will need to complete all of the scheduled assists, workshops and academic sessions, and you must also have logged at least 5 dives in each of the following disciplines:
• Deep
• Navigation
• Night / Limited visibility

This can easily be achieved by shadowing your mentor on some Advanced Adventurer courses. Alternatively you may wish to consider getting certified in the full specialty. Divemasters with more specialties under their belt are much more employable, so not only will this route provide you with even more skills and experience, it will enhance your job prospects too! The most popular specialties aside form the above include Wreck, Nitrox and Photography. So by all means do ask us if you’d like to arrange a bespoke package that covers your training as well as some additional specialties.

Our SSI DM course costs 30,000 THB plus 8,285 THB which covers all materials and SSI Pro Registration.

Minimum professional equipment requirements: Mask & snorkel, fins, dive computer, compass, SMB & reel, knife, slate & pencil. As an Aqualung Partner Centre, we can help you get access to a wide range of equipment for the best price.
