Known for The bay is characterized by giant, house-sized boulders both above and below the water
A quieter, less-visited bay on Koh Tao’s eastern side, Hin Wong offers a more rugged underwater landscape of granite boulders and swim-throughs, attracting divers looking for a change of pace from the island’s more frequented sites.

Hin Wong Bay sits on the eastern side of Koh Tao, away from the more heavily dived western sites, which gives it a noticeably quieter feel even during busier periods on the island. The underwater landscape is defined by large granite boulders, creating swim-throughs, gullies, and overhangs that add genuine topographic interest to the dive.
Conditions at Hin Wong can be more exposed than the sheltered bays on the island’s western side, so visibility and surface conditions are more weather-dependent. When conditions align, though, the site offers some of the more interesting rock formations around Koh Tao, along with a good chance of encountering marine life that favours the more rugged terrain.
The site appeals particularly to divers who’ve already explored Koh Tao’s classic sites and are looking for something with a different character — less manicured reef garden, more raw granite landscape. It’s not typically a first-choice training site, but it’s a rewarding addition to a fun diving itinerary for those with a few Koh Tao dives already under their belt.
