Rock 1: Intro to Top Rope

Rock 1 is where the Goodtime climbing progression begins. Over a full day on Koh Tao’s granite sea cliffs you’ll learn the fundamentals of top rope climbing — tying in, belaying, communication calls, and movement on rock — building the foundation everything else in the progression rests on.

The morning ground school covers gear, knots, and belay technique before you ever leave solid ground. The afternoon takes everything you’ve learned out onto real granite, with an instructor guiding you through your first routes.

No prior climbing experience is needed. Koh Tao’s climbing areas combine genuinely good rock with ocean views most climbing destinations can’t match — many of the routes climbed on Rock 1 look straight out over the Gulf of Thailand.
